84 silver buttons and a great fire

1714

District judge Hans Blichfeld, who owned Grefsheim in the early 1700s, left quite a wardrobe.

One outfit had no fewer than 84 silver buttons. His clothes were worth as much as 23 cows.

His estate also contained 54 silver objects, 18 horses and 50 cows and calves.

But only three months after Blichfeld's death, almost all the farm buildings burned down.

His widow had them rebuilt, at her own expense.
