1868
In 1868 Peder Monsen and his wife Karen left the croft Båthuset under Grefsheim. They took six children with them.
The family sailed on the emigrant ship «Hannah Parr» to America. In time they settled on a farm in Minnesota.
Why Peder and Karen chose to leave Båthuset, we do not know. But they were among many from the crofts on Nes who crossed the Atlantic in the second half of the 1800s.
Eight people left a small croft by Mjøsa and began a new life in America.
