1502
Knut Alvsson was the son of Magnhild Oddsdatter of Grefsheim. He came into conflict with the Danish crown and became a central figure in the struggle over who should rule Norway.
In 1502 he met Henrik Krummedike, one of the king's leading men, for negotiations aboard a ship off Akershus.
Knut had been promised safe conduct. Even so, he was killed during the meeting.
Almost 400 years later Henrik Ibsen wrote of the blow to Knut Alvsson's brow as a blow to Norway's heart.
