16th century
Jomfru Karine Alvsdatter owned Grefsheim in the 1500s. She is said to have been close to Bishop Mogens of Hamar.
According to old tradition, the bells of Hamar Cathedral did not ring for mass until Karine had pushed off from the jetty at Grefsheim, on the other side of Mjøsa.
She is said to have been rowed across by twelve men.
Whether the bells really waited for her, we do not know. But the story has lived long on Nes.
