1837
Peder Eriksen lived at Skauger, one of the crofts under Grefsheim. Here he and his family had a home and a patch of land to farm.
In 1837 Peder got a written contract with the farm owner. To use the croft he had to pay and work for the main farm. He was also responsible for keeping the houses in repair.
A croft was not a home the family owned. They had the right to live there and use the land on the terms agreed with the owner.
