1806-1825
In 1806 Gunder Grefseng, who owned Grefsheim, wanted to start a ferry across Mjøsa.
The ferry was to run from Snipsandodden at Grefsheim to Viker-Ødegarden in Furnes. It would have given people on Nes a much shorter route to the other side of the lake.
But the owner on the Furnes side said no.
Almost twenty years later, in 1825, the plans were revived. This time the county governor, the state's representative in the district, thought the link would be important. Others protested.
Again, no ferry came of it.
Mjøsa went on dividing the two communities.
