The 1780s
Far more than farm produce was once made at Grefsheim.
In the 1780s there was a potash works on the farm. Wood ash was processed here into potash, used among other things in making glass and soap.
Later came lime burning, a brickworks and a distillery. Lime and brick were building materials, while the distillery produced spirits.
On Snippsandodden by Munkevika the ruins of the old lime kiln still stand. Ringsaker municipality has registered them as a heritage site belonging to Grefsheim. When the kiln was last in use, we do not know.
