When Milorg hid at Grimstilen

1943-1945

Grimstilen in Ringsaker common was Grefsheim's summer farm. During the war it took on a very different use.

According to Ringsaker historical society, Milorg's activity in the area began right here. The summer farm became quarters for resistance men and for young men who had fled German labour service.

They took no chances. An escape trench was dug from the house out to the meadow beyond the fence, so they could get away unseen.

Even so they were discovered, not by a patrol but by German officers out hunting elk. The officers fired at them. The group escaped and took shelter in Rauskjørbua, a well-hidden cabin deeper in the forest.

Who stayed at Grimstilen, and exactly when it happened, we do not yet know.
