c. 1449-1499
Magnhild Oddsdatter came to Grefsheim around 1449, when she married Sigurd of the farm. She was already a widow from her first marriage. When Sigurd died a few years later, she was left in charge of the estate on behalf of her son Karl.
She later married the knight and councillor of the realm Alv Knutsson.
Magnhild kept a firm hand on the properties herself. She bought land, made agreements and saw to it that the farms were gathered and managed. Several letters from this period show her as the active party in the transactions.
Together with Alv she came to hold the largest secular estate in Norway in her time. It included the Grefsheim estate, Giske in Sunnmøre, Sudrheim in Romerike, parts of the Bjarkøy estate in the north and the Finne estate in Voss.
When Alv died in 1496, she carried on the work.
Magnhild died in 1499.
